Airtel Money users in Kenya can now pay for services they access on eCitizen, the Kenya government services online gateway, and at a cheaper rate compared to existing market rates. According to Airtel Money Kenya, its users get charged up to 25% lower transaction fees than when using rival mobile money services.

Recently, the Kenyan government announced the onboarding of over 13,000 services on the eCitizen portal.

“This partnership represents a significant stride towards simplifying Kenyans’ access to government services available on the platform. The services include applications and renewals for passports, issuance of e-visas for foreign visitors, driver’s license applications, identification card and birth certificate applications, among others,” Airtel said in a statement recently.

“Making payments to the eCitizen platform through Airtel Money is a highlight of Airtel Money’s dedication to enhancing customer experiences through innovative solutions.”

The same can be done using the My Airtel app.

Alternatively, customers can use the My Airtel app to make payments for the services.

The Airtel Money platform now becomes the third significant platform to allow Kenyan citizens to pay for government services they access digitally after Safaricom’s M-Pesa and Telkom’s T-Kash.
