A lot has been said about the new Galaxy AI features that debuted with the Galaxy S24 series. There have been questions of if and when these features will come to the 2023 line of Samsung Galaxy devices — questions we now have official answers to. In an official statement, Samsung has revealed the release date of the One UI 6.1 update to its last-gen Galaxy devices alongside the features to expect.

According to Samsung, the One UI 6.1 update will arrive at the end of March 2024 with a suite of “Galaxy AI” features for the S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 series. These features, although not all that came with the Galaxy S24 lineup, promise to enhance communication, note-taking, browsing, and even photo editing on last year’s Samsung flagships with the power of AI.

That said, below is the full list of Galaxy AI features that will be part of the One UI 6.1 update when it starts rolling out in late March:

    1. Chat Assist: Users can now adjust message tones and seamlessly translate messages into 13 different languages, facilitating smooth communication across borders and language barriers.

    2. Live Translate: A huge addition to the Samsung Phone app, Live Translate offers both voice and text translations during phone calls, making global conversations more accessible and effortless.

    3. Interpreter: This feature presents a split-screen interface for live conversations, displaying real-time text translations, thereby fostering communication between individuals speaking different languages.

    4. Circle to Search with Google: Streamlining the search experience, this feature allows users to easily initiate Google searches by circling desired content on their device screens.

    5. Note Assist: Enhancing productivity within Samsung Notes, users can now create formatted notes, generate summaries, and seamlessly translate text with the assistance of AI technology.

    6. Browsing Assist: Samsung Internet users will benefit from comprehensive summaries of news articles, empowering them to stay informed while saving time and effort.

    7. Transcript Assist: With this feature integrated into Samsung Voice Recorder, users can transcribe meeting recordings and obtain summaries and translations, facilitating efficient organization and collaboration.

    8. Generative Edit: Samsung Gallery introduces the Generative Edit feature, enabling users to resize, reposition, or realign objects within photos with unprecedented ease and precision.

    9. Edit Suggestion: Leveraging AI capabilities within Samsung Gallery, users will receive intelligent suggestions for photo edits, enhancing the overall quality and aesthetic appeal of their images.

    10. Instant Slow-mo: This feature allows users to generate additional frames for slow-motion videos, enabling captivating and immersive visual experiences. However, it will not be available for on the Galaxy S23 FE.

    11. AI Wallpapers: Users can now create custom wallpapers using AI, adding a personalized touch to their device backgrounds.

With this extensive update, Samsung is making a strong push towards AI-powered experiences for its Galaxy users. Whether you’re a multilingual communicator, a busy professional, or a creative photographer, One UI 6.1 promises to streamline your tasks and unlock new possibilities with the power of artificial intelligence.
