Tecno announced its rollable concept phone last August during the IFA event. Dubbed the Phantom Ultimate, this phone is now slowly becoming a reality, with the company having just showcased it at the ongoing MWC 2024 in Barcelona, Spain. The device seamlessly transforms from a standard smartphone into a larger tablet format, redefining the boundaries of mobile technology.
At the heart of the Tecno Phantom Ultimate rollable design lies a single-drive motor system. With a simple press of a button located on the top of the device, the phone expands, extending the display from a compact 6.55 inches to an expansive 7.1-inch tablet in a mere 1.3 seconds. The Phantom Ultimate also features a cutting-edge LTPO AMOLED display boasting a variable refresh rate for smooth visuals and a resolution of 2,296 x 1,596 pixels. This vibrant screen is complemented by a 100% DCI-P3 color gamut for an immersive viewing experience.
To return the device to its original smartphone size, users simply perform a three-finger swipe gesture – the screen promptly rolls back in. Notably, the phone measures an impressively slim 9.93mm in thickness, ensuring comfortable handling.
While the Tecno Phantom Ultimate is currently a concept phone, it offers a look into the future of rollable smartphone design. This innovative device showcases the promise of rollable technology, which may soon revolutionize how we interact with mobile devices.

I really hope this form factor will get produced. But before that I think it should get a little bit slimmer and somehow water resistant 👌 pic.twitter.com/sim9vmKnzP
