Kenyans are advised to purchase electricity tokens in advance as Kenya Power has announced a temporary interruption of its prepaid token vending system. The interruption is scheduled to start at 10:00 PM on Sunday, June 2nd, and end at 10:00 PM on Monday, June 3rd, 2024. You’ll risk up to 24 hours of no electricity if you fail to plan for this interruption in advance.
During this period, customers will be unable to purchase tokens from all vending points, including Kenya Power offices, the M-PESA Paybill number 888880, Airtel Money, and banking channels. This disruption is necessary to facilitate a system upgrade aimed at improving service delivery.
“We wish to advise our prepaid customers to buy enough tokens before then to avoid any inconvenience,” the company said in a customer alert issued on Monday, May 27th.
