Both the Oppo Reno11 F 5G and Samsung Galaxy A35 boast some level of water resistance, but when it comes to taking the plunge, only one emerges truly victorious. Let’s dive into the IP ratings of these mid-range contenders, both priced at about Kshs 50,000.

Reno11 F offers peace of mind against splashes

The Reno11 F offers an IP65 rating, meaning it can withstand low-pressure water jets and dust particles, providing protection from unexpected splashes, rain, or a quick dip in the sand. Think of it as a shield against everyday mishaps. However, the IP65 rating doesn’t translate to deep-water adventures. Unlike the Galaxy A35, the Reno11 F won’t survive a swim.

Galaxy A35 is the deep-water champion

While the Reno11 F offers basic protection, the Galaxy A35 boasts a superior IP67 rating. This signifies a phone that can handle temporary submersion in shallow water for up to 30 minutes. So, if you’re a beach bum, pool enthusiast, or someone who frequently encounters water, the A35 has a clear advantage over the Reno11 F.

However, it’s crucial to remember that even with an IP67 rating, the Galaxy A35 is not designed for deep-sea diving or high-pressure water environments. While it can withstand a dip in the pool, falls, or accidental splashes, it can still be damaged by drops, extreme pressure, or intentional submersion beyond its specified limits.

Therefore, even with the A35’s superior water resistance, caution is key. Users should avoid exposing their phone to situations that could potentially damage it, even if it’s meant to survive a quick dunk.

Choosing your water warrior

Both phones offer peace of mind, but the level of protection differs significantly. If basic splash and dust resistance is your primary concern, the Reno11 F delivers. However, for those who crave deeper water protection, the Galaxy A35 reigns supreme. Ultimately, the choice boils down to your lifestyle and needs.
