Xiaomi sub-brand POCO is making a big comeback to Kenya with the local launch and availability of the C75 and M6 Pro smartphones.
The C75 is one of POCO’s newest smartphones having been announced just last month (October) while the M6 Pro has been in markets elsewhere for much of the year.
“These devices are designed to redefine the mid-range smartphone experience, combining cutting-edge technology, stunning design, and POCO’s unbeatable affordability,” Xiaomi Kenya, which is selling the devices in the country, says in a statement.
POCO C75
The POCO C75 features a 6.88-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 50-megapixel AI dual camera, a 13-megapixel front-facing camera, MediaTek’s Helio G81 Ultra chipset, 8GB RAM, 128 or 256GB internal storage and a 5,160mAh battery that charges at 18W and which Xiaomi says has a standby time of 21 days.
There’s a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 3.5mm headphone jack and the ability to boost sound up to 150%.
In Kenya, the device comes in Black, Gold and Green.
POCO M6 Pro
The POCO M6 Pro, on the other hand, packs a 6.67-inch Full HD+ display panel with 120Hz refresh rate that can go all the way to 1,300 nits and is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5, a triple camera setup at the back comprising a 64-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra wide camera and a 2-megapixel macro lens. The main sensor also has optical image stabilization (OIS).
It is powered by the G99 Ultra chipset from MediaTek and packs 8 or 12GB RAM and an option of either 256 or 512GB onboard storage. It has a 5,000mAh battery that charges at 67W fast charging (0 to 100% in 44 minutes).
Being the superior device between the two, it also gets some added features like IP54 water resistance and dust protection, an infrared (IR) blaster and NFC. It also has a 3.5mm headphone jack slot.
It comes in Black, Blue and Purple colour options.
Operating System
When it debuted at the start of the year, the POCO M6 Pro shipped with MIUI 14 with Android 13 underneath. It has since received an update to HyperOS and is one of the devices that have been earmarked for a bump up to HyperOS 2.0.
Being less than a month old, the POCO C75 arrives running HyperOS right out of the box.
