Samsung’s been cooking up something spicy in its Galaxy A-series kitchen, and the leaks are sizzling hot! The tech giant is gearing up to unleash three new budget-friendly beasts – the Galaxy A56, Galaxy A36, and Galaxy A26 – and we’ve got the full scoop courtesy of a detailed leak from Germany’s WinFuture. These phones are packing some serious punches, and they’re hitting the local scene soon.

Samsung’s Galaxy A-series has long been a hit in Kenya, and the excitement keeps growing – think back to when the A15 and A25 dropped in January 2024 (relive that vibe here), followed by the A35 and A55 strolling in a couple of months later (catch up here). Now, the A56, A36, and A26 are ready to steal the spotlight, with a global launch teased for Mobile World Congress (MWC) on March 2, 2025. No official word yet on when they’ll hit Kenyan shelves, but if last year’s rollouts are any hint, it won’t be long after the big reveal.

What’s extra tasty? These phones are sticking to the same price tags as their predecessors, at least in Europe – €479 (A56), €379 (A36), and €299 (A26) – despite flaunting some fancy upgrades. Oh, and Samsung’s promising six OS upgrades for these bad boys in India, so we’re hoping Kenya gets that long-term love too. Let’s break down what each device is bringing to the table!

Galaxy A56: The premium pretender

The Galaxy A56 is stepping up as the big sibling, flexing a sleek design and some hefty specs. It’s not a massive leap from the A55, but it’s got enough swagger to keep us intrigued.

    • Display: 6.7-inch Super AMOLED, 2340 x 1080, 120Hz refresh rate – smooth scrolling, anyone?Topped with Gorilla Glass Victus (a slight step down from Victus+ on the A55, but still tough as nails).
    • Cameras: 50MP main with OIS (for steady shots), 12MP ultra-wide, 5MP macro, and a 12MP selfie cam (down from 32MP on the A55, but Samsung’s promising better quality – we’ll see!).
    • Power: Exynos 1580 chip with 8GB RAM (rumors say up to 12GB and 256GB storage ).
    • Battery: 5,000mAh with 45W fast charging – zero to hero in no time.
    • Extras: Android 15 with One UI 7.0, 5G, IP67 water/dust resistance, stereo speakers, and in-display fingerprint scanner. No microSD slot, though.

At 162.8 x 77.5 x 7.4mm and 197 grams, it’s slim and light enough to flaunt. Priced at €479 in Europe, it’s keeping things steady – we’re hoping for a similar vibe in Kenya shillings!

Galaxy A36: The bragging rights champ

The Galaxy A36 is the middle child with a wild twist – it’s the first phone ever to rock Gorilla Glass 7+. Yep, Samsung’s flexing hard with this one!

    • Display: Same 6.7-inch Super AMOLED goodness (2340 x 1080, 120Hz), but with a U-notch and that shiny new Gorilla Glass 7+ (Corning hasn’t even announced it yet).
    • Cameras: 50MP main with OIS, 8MP ultra-wide (a step down from the A56’s 12MP), 5MP macro, and a 12MP selfie snapper.
    • Power: Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, with 6GB or 8GB RAM options – solid multitasking ahead!
    • Battery: 5,000mAh with 45W charging – matching its pricier sibling.
    • Extras: Android 15 with One UI 7.0, 5G, IP67, stereo speakers, and in-display fingerprint scanner. Storage details are hush-hush, but no microSD slot here either.

Weighing 195 grams (162.7 x 77.9 x 7.4mm), the A36 starts at €379 in Europe. If you snag this, you’ll be the first on the block with that Gorilla Glass 7+.

Galaxy A26: The budget boss

The Galaxy A26 is the affordable hero we all need, keeping things simple yet snappy. It’s got a little something for everyone.

    • Display: 6.7-inch Super AMOLED (2340 x 1080, 120Hz) with basic Gorilla Glass – still gorgeous!
    • Cameras: 50MP main with OIS, 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro (lower res, but it’s there!), and a 13MP selfie cam (a slight upgrade from its siblings).
    • Power: Exynos 1380 with 6GB or 8GB RAM – zippy enough for the price. Plus, a microSD slot.
    • Battery: 5,000mAh, but slower 25W charging – patience is a virtue.
    • Extras: Android 15 with One UI 7.0, 5G, IP67, stereo speakers, side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

At 164 x 77.5 x 7.7mm and 200 grams, it’s the chunkier one of the trio. Priced at €299 in Europe, it’s the wallet-friendly pick we’re rooting for in Kenya.Galaxy-A26

Samsung’s playing it smart – these phones aren’t reinventing the wheel, but they’re bringing fresh tricks like Gorilla Glass 7+ (A36, you trendsetter!). The March 2 MWC launch is just days away as of today, February 27, 2025, and we’re counting down! No Kenyan release date yet, but if the A35 and A55 are any hint, expect these to land soon after – maybe even by the end of March or early April.

For us in Kenya, the big questions are: How will these prices translate to Kshs? Will we get that sweet six-OS upgrade deal? And can the A36’s Gorilla Glass 7+ survive a Nairobi matatu drop? Stay tuned to Android Kenya – we’ll keep you posted as Samsung spills more beans.
