One of Xiaomi’s standout smartphones this year, the Mi A2, is currently receiving the Android Pie update.
There are no surprises here as this is one of those things that anyone getting themselves an Android One smartphone expects and it is interesting to see Xiaomi work hard to shed the bad reputation it was gaining with the Mi A2’s predecessor of not being so proactive with updates last year. Remember when the Mi A2 barely entered the new year with Oreo?
Of course, we don’t have the Mi A2 with us but multiple reports so far indicate that the device is receiving a stable update in several markets including India.
The Xiaomi Mi A2 has been available on sale in Kenya since the start of October. However, we can’t ascertain if the stable release of Android Pie is also available in the country at the moment. In the event that it isn’t, users of the device can expect it over the next few days or weeks.
The update weighs in at just a gigabyte and is said to include the November security patch, dated 5th November 2018.
At this point, it is not clear if the Mi A2’s inferior sibling, the Mi A2 Lite, is getting the update either now or in the future.
