The flagship Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 has finally left China and while we still don’t know whether this marvel will end up in the local market, Xiaomi Kenya has a huge discount on the phone’s immediate predecessor, Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S, suggesting we could soon see the Mi MIX 3 selling locally.
Usually, smartphone vendors start throwing around discounts on outgoing handsets whenever they plan to bring in its successor. This could be the case for the Mi MIX 2S, whose current price has dipped to just Sh 34,999, down from Sh 45,000, the lowest I’ve seen.
This puts the phone in the Pocophone F1 territory, which brings the question of whether Xiaomi is cannibalizing itself or maybe it’s just being aggressive in the market.
Here are the specs of the Mi MIX 2S.
Specs
- 5.99-inch 18:9 FHD+ LCD display with Gorilla Glass 4
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor
- 6GB RAM
- 64GB non-expandable storage
- Dual 12MP + 12MP dual-pixel AI back camera
- 5MP front camera
- 3400mAh non-removable battery
- Android 8.0 Oreo, upgradable to Android 9 Pie
- Extras: Bluetooth 5.0, USB-C, Quick Charge 3.0, wireless charging, rear-mounted FPS, NFC, etc.
At this price, the Mi MIX 2S is easily one of the best smartphone deals money can buy in the country at the moment, but for how long this deal will last remains unknown, so be sure to grab it ASAP.
One thing worth noting is that the Mi MIX 2S doesn’t have a 3.5mm audio jack and as usual, Xiaomi doesn’t include a pair of headphones in the box, but you get a Type-C to 3.5mm audio converter for using with your old headphones.
