The Nokia 2.1 is receiving a new software update that installs Android 9 Pie operating system. The update comes hot on the heels of the Nokia 6 2017 having received a similar update, which also tags along a new Android security patch for February 2019.
Even though Juho Sarvikas’ tweet about Nokia 2.1 Pie update doesn’t mention it, we believe this is the Go Edition of Pie.
The update, which weighs under 900MB and carries software build number V1.08C, has a lot that it brings to the Nokia 2.1 over Oreo Go. First is the changed UI, new gestures for navigation, and then there’s improved notification management, battery life, and performance.
Google had also promised improved memory management with Pie Go Edition and smaller app sizes that load faster, so expect the same and plenty of other stuff when the update arrives on your Nokia 2.1.
The OTA update has just been confirmed and since the rollout is staggered, you may have to wait several days before the download notification arrives on your handset.
