The Nokia X30 5G can now be bought in Kenya.
The device, which bears the distinction of being the Nokia brand’s “most eco-friendly smartphone”, according to the brand’s licensee HMD Global is going for Kshs 42,500. At that price, it is going head to head with Samsung’s Galaxy A34.
The Nokia X30 5G was introduced to the global market in September last year alongside the Nokia C31 and the Nokia G60 5G. The duo has since been made available in the local market (one officially, as far as we know, and the other unofficially) and the entry of the Nokia X30 5G completes the lineup from that Nokia event.
The Nokia X30 5G’s cling to eco-friendliness fame is from the 100% recycled aluminium frame, a back that’s made of 65% recycled plastic and, well, a box that’s made from 70% recycled paper.
It packs a 6.43-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus, a 50-megapixel main camera backed by a 13-megapixel ultrawide sensor, a 16-megapixel selfie camera, 6GB RAM, 128GB internal storage, a Snapdragon 695 5G from Qualcomm and a 4,200mAh battery with 33W fast-charging. HMD Global says that that this battery guarantees two-day battery life and will remain healthy even after a few years.
The device runs on Android 12, is Android Enterprise-ready and will be supported through three major OS upgrades and an equal number of security updates.
There’s an under-display fingerprint sensor and IP67 rating for water resistance and dust protection. NFC is also available as is eSIM capability though for that, you’ll need to check with your mobile network operator.
Included in the purchase package in Kenya is a pair of Nokia BH-805 noise-cancelling earbuds worth Kshs 15,000 for free.
The device comes in Cloudy Blue and Ice White colour options and is available at retail outlets across the country. As usual, we recommend checking with some of our recommended merchants if you’re looking to purchase the device.
