Just from the name, it’s easy to tell what Google Search Labs experiments feature is all about. But for a quick heads-up, Search Labs is Google’s tool that lets users like me and you experiment and test upcoming Google Search products.
Google is always adding new products to Search Labs and removing those that materialize or even those that don’t make it. So being part of Search Labs is the only way to try every experimental feature that Google adds to the program before it disappears. Unfortunately, this hasn’t been possible for folks in multiple countries, including Kenya. But this changes today.
Google’s experimental Search Labs feature is now available in 120 countries and territories across the globe including Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa. Besides that, Google has also expanded Search Generative Experience (SGE) language support to include Indonesian, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. Folks in the U.S. also get a few SGE updates first, among them easier follow-ups, AI-powered translation help with more context, and more definitions for topics like coding and health information.
You can sign up for Search Labs and try out SGE through Chrome or the Google app on Android and iOS. Just tap the Labs icon in the Google app or Chrome desktop to sign up, and visit this page to learn more. Google says access via Chrome desktop is available, but Google app will get access over the coming week.
