The Infinix Smart 2 and the superior Infinix Smart 2 Pro have been in the country since mid-2018 as the company’s flagship budget phones. Back then, the former came in priced at Sh 10,000 while the latter was valued at Sh 16,000, but today, you can have the Pro variant from Infinix Mall at a discount of Sh 5,000.
Infinix hasn’t given out any hints that the successors to the Smart 2 duo are in the works, but usually, smartphone vendors start throwing around discounts on devices when their successors are on the horizon. A 5K discount on the Infinix Smart 2 Pro definitely makes the device a worthy buy at the moment, although we are not sure how long this deal has been floating around. As for the standard model, the price remains the same.
Specs-wise, the Infinix Smart 2 Pro ships with a 5.5-inch 18:9 HD+ (1440×720) LCD display screen, a MediaTek MT6739 chipset, 2GB RAM, 16GB expandable storage (up to 128GB), a 3050mAh battery, and has a dual-lens 13MP + 2MP main camera supported by an 8MP selfie shooter.
The Smart 2 Pro comes preinstalled with Android 8.1 Oreo, but the device recently started receiving an update to the latest Android 9 Pie, so software shouldn’t be a problem. Also, you’ll come across other goodies like a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, Face Unlock, front-facing speakers, 4G LTE connectivity, and so on.
