Fresh from availing its flagship smartphone, the Infinix Zero 6, in the local market, Infinix is back again with a new smartphone. This time around, it is from its budget Hot series.

The Infinix Hot 7, which has been up for pre-order through Infinix’s own e-commerce store, , for past one week, is now available for purchase through the same medium as well as retail stores countrywide.

The device, the 7th generation in Infinix’s Hot series which introduced many an ordinary Kenyan to the Infinix brand and, by extension, buying smartphones online, picks up from where the Hot 6 left last year.

Like the Hot 6 last year, the Infinix Hot 7 starts at Kshs 9,999. However, unlike last year’s variants, which included a Pro model and the Hot 6X, Infinix is keeping the pricing on the low side when it comes to the Hot 7’s single variant. The device, which can be differentiated physically from its sub-Kshs 10,000 sibling by the dual-camera setup at the back, goes for just Kshs 1,000 more – Kshs 10,999.

Internally, it sets itself apart by packing double the storage and memory.

Whereas the 1GB RAM variant of the Infinix Hot 7 runs on the Go edition of Android 8.1, Oreo, the 2GB RAM model runs on standard Android Oreo, as can be expected of a device packing its kind of specifications.

The 1GB RAM variant joins the second generation Infinix Smart devices launched over the last few months that are also powered by Android Go and joins a growing list of sub-Kshs 10,000 devices available currently in the Kenyan market that take advantage of Go’s focus on making the experience on devices with basic specs desirable.

The “senior” Infinix Hot 7, on the other hand, plays in the same league as Huawei’s newest budget device, the Y6 Prime 2019, matching it spec-wise and undercutting where it really matters: the price.

The devices are available in either Milan Black or Champagne Gold colour options. A gradient purple variant, like the one pictured above is part of the lineup as is a blue colour model. We do not have any information on when or if, the two colour options will also be made available locally.
