WhatsApp video and voice calling features have been around for quite some time now. You can start a new video call, a new audio call or even switch to a video call in the middle of an audio call.
In this post, we show you how to switch to a video call in the middle of an ongoing WhatsApp audio call and it’s very easy.
- During an ongoing WhatsApp audio call, tap on the video icon sitting between the speaker and microphone icons at the bottom of your screen (see arrow in the screenshot below). Don’t touch the Red icon just above it because this will end the ongoing audio call.
- You’ll be prompted to switch to a video call (see screenshot above). Tap on SWITCH.
- WhatsApp will send your request to switch to a video call to the person on the other end.
- Once they accept the request, the ongoing WhatsApp audio call will switch to a video call.
Note that this process happens seamlessly without losing any connection if both of you have a good internet connection, so there’s less to worry about. Unfortunately, there’s no way of switching back to an audio call once you switch to a video call.
