Tecno bringing back its flagship Phantom smartphones after one and a half year hiatus

Tecno Phantom 8 unboxing and first impressions

The last time we saw a Tecno Phantom smartphone was back in November 2017 with the device having launched a month earlier. That’s over one and a half years ago! Almost 2 years, even.

Since then, the Chinese smartphone brand has kept mum on the future prospects of what has been its flagship smartphone series. All the while, it has concentrated on more affordable budget smartphones that are able to give similar devices from rivals like Huawei, Xiaomi, Nokia and even sibling Infinix, a run for their money.

That is about to change in a few weeks, though.

We have it on good authority that Tecno is reviving the Phantom brand soon. Not that it ever left but it’s been such a long time that we had all but forgotten about it.

So, if Tecno is serious about bringing the Phantom back then they must have something very interesting under wraps, right?

That may be the case going by what we know so far.

Word on the grapevine is that there will be quite some substantial changes to the smartphone experience that we are accustomed to from Tecno. What that entails exactly is hard to tell at this moment when we don’t know much about the device other than its confirmed existence and that the camera experience is going to be like nothing we have seen thus far on Tecno smartphones. Hmmm.

A video posted on the Tecno Mobile India channel hints at an in-display fingerprint sensor which would be a first for Tecno.

There are more rumours about the device flying around but we can’t ascertain them.

Anyone looking to get a peek into what Tecno has been cooking since 2017 will have such an opportunity on or after July 8th when we expect the device to hit store shelves across the country.

What are you looking forward to seeing in the next Phantom?
