Over a month ago, owners of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ in Europe received an update that installed May 2019 security patches and earlier this month, the same region received another May update, this time carrying stability improvements to the camera.
It’s possible that the initial build had some bugs that needed a quick fix, hence the second May update. However, not even this newer version was registered on the Kenyan units of the Galaxy S8 and S8+, at least until now.
As of this writing, the newer May patch is now available for download on the Kenyan variants of the S8 and S8+. The updates are arriving as version G950FXXU4DSE4 for the S8 and G955FXXU4DSE4 for the S8+.
At a time when the Galaxy S8 May patch is arriving in Kenya, those in Europe are already getting their June security patches. If anything, this same update should arrive in the country somewhere in July 2019.
The updates are quite heavy weighing in at over 600MB, so be sure to connect to a stable Wi-Fi network to upgrade to the new firmware.
