Samsung Galaxy S7 Active and Tab A 10.1 no longer receiving security updates

On the day that Samsung announced new changes that will make users of the Samsung Galaxy A51 and A71 smartphones happy since they bring Galaxy S20 family features to the popular mid-rangers, it is not lost on us that the Korean device maker also quietly removed two devices from its updates list.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active and the Galaxy Tab A 10.1, both launched back in 2016, will no longer receive security updates.

Unlike other such removals which have come as a shock, the two devices are pretty old, by Android standards, and it is not surprising that they are finally no longer even a distant priority when it comes to updates.

The devices we can expect to see on the chopping board the next time Samsung updates its list will most likely include the venerable Galaxy Tab S3 and several Galaxy A series devices from 3 years ago.
