Oppo is set to unveil its latest devices under the Reno series, the Reno5 and the Reno5 F in the local market in a week’s time – on February 22, 2021.

The event will be streamed live on the . For those watching the live stream, from 10am on the appointed day, there will be opportunities to win some goodies including two Reno5 devices, a smartwatch and two Enco W11 wireless earphones.

At the launch is when we expect Oppo Kenya to announce pre-order information which, going by banners put up in a few stores we have been to, is supposed to kick-off on February 23, a day after the local reveal, and run all the way to March 1st.

As per the information we have (see image below), the Enco W11 wireless earbuds and a bag will be part of the Reno5’s pre-order gift while only the buds will be gifted to those pre-ordering the Reno5 F. Those who pre-order either device will get half a year broken screen protection meaning that Oppo Kenya will replace the screen should it be broken within the stated time frame.

According to Oppo, the Reno5 series will “introduce an industry-first feature the AI Mixed Portrait –the first double exposure video effect for smartphones – and AI Highlight Video, an industry-leading feature which uses intelligent light detection to combine OPPO’s advanced Ultra Night Video Algorithms and Live HDR Algorithms to significantly enhance video quality in dim and backlit scenes.”

The devices bring with them 50W ultra-fast charging which sees them juiced up from 0 to 100% in just under 50 minutes and up to 80% in just half an hour.

The two smartphones are powered by ColorOS 11.1, Oppo’s own take on Android 11.

We have the Reno5 – and shall have the Reno5 F as well – in for review ahead of the launch so keep checking back for our first hands-on and, eventually, full thoughts on the same once we have taken them through their paces.
