It’s that time of the year when we get to see a new flagship smartphone series from Samsung.
As expected, that flagship smartphone series is the Galaxy S22 series.
We expect to see the smartphones in that series (the Galaxy S22, the Galaxy S22 Plus and the Galaxy S22 Ultra) as well as the much-leaked tablet, the Galaxy Tab S8. As usual, there should be a couple of interesting accessories to accompany the main devices as well. And, going by recent Unpacked events, we are also leaving some room for some surprises, if any (like that games streaming platform we’ve been hearing a lot about lately).
There is a lot that is out there regarding what we expect to see today but top on our list is the chipset that is going to power the new smartphones – which we’ve heard will be available in a lot more Galaxy S series devices at launch than was the case previously when Samsung has supplemented its own Exynos chipset with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon.
Given that we are living in the age of the coming of the metaverse, Samsung will, well, be conducting the launch “in the metaverse”. Remember when holographic product launches were all the rage? Seems like yesterday, to be honest. We are on to the next one now.
Here’s how you can keep tabs on all that Samsung will announce on stage at its Unpacked event:

If you need a recap, here’s what Samsung announced at the last major Unpacked event (there was another Unpacked event at the start of this year where Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S21 FE but we’ll close our eyes and pretend that that didn’t happen given that many of us agree that it was pretty much a dilution of the Unpacked events). Listen to our conversation with the regional head of Samsung’s mobile division, Charles Kimari, during that event here.
While we are counting on the event to start to know more about the availability of the devices being unveiled there, we’ve previously heard that they may hit the market this month. We will be confirming that shortly.
