realme has officially launched and started selling the realme 9 smartphone in Kenya.
The device, which was announced about 3 months ago, brings with several features including a flagship 108-megapixel camera.
It packs a 6.4-inch Full HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 680 chipset, 8GB RAM, 128GB onboard storage and a 5,000mAh battery.
The RAM can be expanded by 3 gigabytes courtesy of realme’s Dynamic RAM Expansion feature, something that we have also seen in a bunch of other devices being made available in our market over the past year.
The aforementioned 108-megapixels main camera is backed by a pair of 8-megapixel (ultrawide) and 2-megapixel (macro) sensors. On the front is a 16-megapixel camera.
The 108-megapixel sensor, according to realme, is “powered by the Samsung ISOCELL HM6 image sensor – a super-wide lens and a macro lens, promising more accurate colours and a faster focus lock experience”.
The realme 9 runs on Android 12, which users will interact with as version 3 of the realme UI.
The realme 9 variant available in the Kenyan market is the 4G one. There is a 5G model that is not making it to this part of the world at this time but is available in some markets like India.
The launch and subsequent availability of the realme 9 comes hot on the heels of the launch of yet another realme smartphone, the realme C35.
The realme 9 is going for Kshs 31,000 at retail stores across the country.
