Tecno launches Camon 19 Pro Mondrian Edition, retailing at Kshs 35,000

Tecno has unveiled another variant of the Camon 19, the Tecno Camon 19 Pro Mondrian Edition.

As the name suggests, this is a variant of the Camon 19 Pro, bringing the total number of devices in the Camon 19 smartphone series in Kenya to 4. There’s the standard Camon 19, the Camon 19 Pro, a 5G variant of the Pro model and this Mondrian Edition.

In simpler words, the Tecno Camon 19 Pro Mondrian Edition appears to be a more “artsy” version of the Camon 19 Pro. Tecno says that it “is the world’s first smart device that uses “sunlight drawing” technology to allow the phone to change colours in sunlight – creating a device that is both artistic and intuitive.”

“Tecno and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston have joined to bring the unique vision of Piet Mondrian – the Dutch pioneer of abstract art best known for his bold and colourful block paintings – to a new format that is accessible to consumers in a way not previously explored,” a statement from Tecno reads.

“Tecno pays tribute to Piet Mondrian by presenting polychromatic photoisomer technology in a classic and minimalist mobile phone design to perfectly inherit his pure artistic spirit. The smartphone is no longer a mere technology product but a philosophical artwork in the tradition of Mondrian, with the light and shadow transformation from indoor to outdoor. Tecno’s brand, expressed by the debut of polychromatic photoisomer technology, is similar to Mondrian’s perfect combination of colours and lines to illustrate the power of nature and the essence of life.”

Bar the colour-changing and unique back design, the Mondrian Edition packs the same features and specifications as the standard Camon 19 Pro.

It is going for Kshs 35,000 and can be purchased at various smartphone and other mobile accessory outlets across the country including – but not limited to – Tecno brand shops, Jumia (online), Safaricom shops and on Masoko (Safaricom’s online platform).
