Xiaomi has officially unveiled the Redmi Note 12 series in Kenya.
The Redmi Note 12 series in the country comprises the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G, which is the hero of the series, the Redmi Note 12 Pro, the Redmi Note 12S and the standard Redmi Note 12.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G packs a 6.67-inch Full HD+ Flow AMOLED display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a peak of 900 nits of brightness and Gorilla Glass 5 protection, a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset, 8GB RAM, 256GB onboard storage, and a 5,000mAh battery with support for Xiaomi’s proprietary 120W HyperCharge which guarantees a charge rate of 0 to 100% in under 20 minutes (a 120W charger is included in the box). There’s a 12GB RAM variant of the device but we’re not getting that in Kenya. The device’s storage is not extendable via the microSD card slot.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro+’s standout feature is its 200-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) which uses Xiaomi’s custom HPX sensor in some markets and brings with it a suite of software technologies from Xiaomi to aid in image processing.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro, on the other hand, keeps the same display panel as its Plus sibling, the same chipset as well, and the same memory/storage options as the Pro Plus with the only deviation being the availability of a 128GB option, of course, at a reduced price. It has a similar battery unit but with a different fast-charging rate at 67W (o to 100% in 46 minutes). Of course, it has a different camera with a 50-megapixel sensor leading the way on its back, flanked by two other sensors: an 8-megapixel ultrawide and a 2-megapixel macro lens.

The Redmi Note 12S has the smaller one of the displays on the four devices in the Redmi Note 12 series on sale in Kenya with a 6.43-inch display. It is still Full HD+ and is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 but it is an IPS LCD panel, unlike the OLEDs on its three other siblings and its refresh rate goes up to 90Hz. It has a MediaTek G96 chipset, 6 and 8GB RAM, 64, 128 and 256GB internal storage (only the 8GB + 256GB variant is available in Kenya)
All four devices run on MIUI 13 (Android 12), have NFC, headphone jacks, side-mounted fingerprint sensors and infrared (IR) blasters.
