In a few months, we will be looking at the finer details of Android 14, which will just have been released. The upcoming version of Android is currently under testing and brings with it lots of housekeeping measures such as upgraded security measures, some useful user interface tweaks and so on. You can check all that we have been covering on Android 14 here. Before it becomes a thing (an official launch and whatnot), however, Android 13 remains the latest version of Android.
As such, anyone with a smartphone that is still within the usual default 2-year support window that most Android device makers offer and who hasn’t had a chance to be bumped up to Android 13, is probably still keeping the faith that their fortunes will be changing soon.
For users of Infinix smartphones, that soon has never been soon enough. The Chinese device recently released details of its Android 13 roadmap for existing devices.
The devices whose users can expect a bump up to Android 13 are:
- Infinix Zero 5G 2023
- Infinix Zero Ultra
- Infinix Zero 20
- Infinix Note 12 Pro 5G
- Infinix Note 12
Android 13 updates are hitting the aforementioned smartphones starting this month through to August, as can be seen in this graphic:
Infinix is rolling out Android 13 as XOS 13 on the above-mentioned models. Android 13 has been available on some models under version 12.x, as can be seen in some of the devices we have reviewed recently like the Hot 30 Play.
XOS is its custom take on Android featuring a colourful overlay and iconography as well as lots of custom features that are new in XOS 13 and many others that have been carried over from past versions released over the years.
For instance, in place of the Google Discover feed that shows up when swipes to the left of a device running Google’s idea of stock Android, Infinix smartphones have the Zero Screen. While the Google Assistant remains in place, Infinix offers a parallel digital voice assistant, Folax, which can read and send text messages, read out loud call logs and so on.
To get the update, one needs to go to the Settings app, click on System then follow through to System Update and, when presented with the two options, choose ‘Online Update‘.
Why there’s no Update on my Phone today in XOS 13 its is said the Update of this OS is on August 1 today. Please explain this thing
