There’s some good news for Kenyan Samsung Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra owners as the company is now rolling out the latest February 2024 security update, addressing potential vulnerabilities and enhancing your device’s protection.
The new firmware is coming in with software version S9xxBXXS3BXAD and it offers improved security but doesn’t yet deliver the highly anticipated One UI 6.1 update. While security is paramount, many Galaxy S23 users are eagerly awaiting the One UI 6.1 update for its promised suite of Galaxy AI features that debuted with the Galaxy S24 series last month. These features are expected to change the way you use your phone to do certain tasks, but will likely arrive with the March 2024 security update instead.
Samsung’s February 2024 update focuses primarily on security, addressing 72 vulnerabilities identified in the previous software version. While it doesn’t bring new user-facing features, it’s crucial for maintaining your device’s security against potential threats.
The update is rolling out gradually and has, in fact, been available in other regions for some time now. You can manually check for it by going to your phone’s Settings > Software Update > Download and install. Once available, download and install the update to benefit from the improved security patches.
As noted, there’s no official confirmation, but word on the streets has it that the Galaxy S23 One UI 6.1 update with its Galaxy AI features is likely to arrive with the March 2024 security update. But I’d recommended keeping an eye on our coverage for further announcements from Samsung regarding the specific rollout date.
