Xiaomi has unveiled the Redmi 13 4G, a budget-friendly smartphone that significantly upgrades its predecessor, the Redmi 12. This new model boasts a powerful MediaTek Helio G91 Ultra chip, a remarkable 108MP primary camera, and a sleek design, making it a strong contender for the title of “budget king.”

Design and display

The Redmi 13 4G sports a modern design with vibrant color options like blue, black, or pink. Its 6.79-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display promises sharp visuals and a smooth 90Hz refresh rate, perfect for gaming, browsing, or scrolling through social media.

A 13MP front-facing camera is discreetly embedded in the display, ensuring high-quality selfies and video calls. The side-mounted fingerprint scanner provides convenient access and enhanced security.

Performance and camera

Powered by the new MediaTek Helio G91 Ultra chipset, the Redmi 13 4G should easily handle everyday tasks and demanding applications. The standout feature is the 108MP primary camera, capable of capturing incredibly detailed photos, accompanied by several other sensors yet to be detailed by Xiaomi.

Battery and software

A robust 5,030mAh battery will keep the Redmi 13 4G running all day with moderate usage. The 33W fast charging support ensures minimal downtime when recharging.

The device runs Xiaomi’s user-friendly HyperOS, based on Android 14, offering a wide range of customization options to personalize the phone according to user preferences.

Redmi 13 4G price and availability in Kenya

The Redmi 13 4G offers great value for its price. The 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant will retail for €199.99, while the 8GB + 256GB model will be available for €229.99. These prices translate to about Kshs 28,500 and Kshs 32,600, respectively.

While there’s no official release date for the Redmi 13 4G in Kenya yet, the recent launch of the device in Europe suggests that its arrival is imminent. With its impressive features and somewhat competitive price, it will be interesting to see how it battles against the likes of Oppo A60 and Infinix Note 40.
