If you have been looking to get satellite internet connectivity in Kenya courtesy of Starlink, the satellite internet network from Elon Musk’s Space X company, now might be the time to get it.
This is after Starlink announced a new deal that reduces the standard hardware kit from a Kshs 45,500 price tag to just Kshs 29,999. The deal is available exclusively on Starlink’s website and not the company’s local retail partners such as supermarket chain Naivas and e-commerce platform Jumia.
When it launched in Kenya a year ago, Starlink’s standard hardware kit cost Kshs 89,000. The price went up factoring in shipping and local delivery charges, pushing it past Kshs 92,000. In April, Starlink reduced the price by half to the Kshs 45,500 it has been going for online (on Jumia and Starlink’s website) and at Naivas stores.
At its current discounted price, Kenyans can expect to pay a total of Kshs 33,099, factoring in the Kshs 3,100 shipping and delivery fee.
While making the purchase, Kenyans also have an option to opt for the new monthly 50GB data package Starlink has introduced recently (in June) and exclusively available in Kenya at a cost of Kshs 1,300. Alternatively, they can opt for the standard Kshs 6,500 unlimited data subscription (fair usage policy applies).
