With Spotify’s new pricing about to kick in, the streaming giant is making sure no one misses the memo. If you’re a Spotify subscriber in Kenya, you’ve likely seen a notification or email — or both — giving you a gentle nudge that things are about to get a bit pricier starting November 8, 2024. The monthly subscription cost will rise to Kshs 339, up from the previous Kshs 299.
The notification and email spell out clearly that the price for your Spotify subscription will automatically increase to Kshs 339.00/month on Nov. 8, 2024, but you can cancel anytime in the Google Play Store. So, while some may be tempted to conveniently “miss” the email, Spotify’s dual reminder system is in full effect.
For those on the Student Plan, the price will jump from Kshs 149 to Kshs 169, while the Duo Plan will leap from Kshs 349 to Kshs 439, and the Family Plan is going from Kshs 479 to Kshs 549.
This price hike was first announced last month, and since then, Spotify has remained firm on its November 8 deadline. For many, this means weighing whether the added expense is worth the music, podcasts, and curated playlists that Spotify has to offer. And if it’s not, that “cancel anytime” option is a straightforward escape.
