Infinix set to introduce successor to the Hot S on April 10, drops “Hot” branding
FacebookTwitterWhatsApp

Mark your calendars everyone, Infinix has set the date for the unveiling of the Infinix S2. On April 10th, the company will introduce the successor to last year’s Infinix Hot S.

The Infinix Hot S was the Chinese mobile device brand’s first smartphone with a fingerprint sensor (which was located at the back) so what unique feature will its successor have? Dual selfie cameras. Yup, that.

The Infinix S2 will be the first Infinix smartphone with a dual selfie camera. As you can note from that name, Infinix will also be dropping the “Hot” branding with the device simply being the Infinix S2. Is this is an effort to differentiate it from the entry-level Hot series and eliminate the confusion the Hot S brought last year?

According to TechArena, the Infinix Hot S2’s two front-facing cameras will have 13 and 8-megapixel sensors to ensure superior selfie quality. The 8-megapixel sensor will be for normal selfie shots while the 13-megapixel one will specialize in wide-angle snaps which Infinix is said to be referring to as “wefie”s in its marketing materials. *Gasps*.

Another Chinese mobile device company closely associated with Infinix, Tecno, could debut a smartphone with a dual selfie camera at an event later this week.

Like its predecessor, the Infinix S2 is expected to stick with the much-maligned HD display instead of upgrading to a full HD display panel. Probably because the company still expects to keep the device’s pricing below Kshs 20,000. The battery is also expected to stay put at 3,000mAh but prospective buyers of the device will be hoping that it fairs much better than the unit in last year’s Hot S which ran out fast.
