The 6 GB RAM variant of OPPO’s latest camera-centred device, the OPPO F5, is finally available for purchase locally.
This announcement comes days after the OPPO F5 Youth, another model of the F5, went on sale in the country.
The device, which comes exclusively in red colour as well as in black (a colour option that is available on the standard model), will be available on a limited basis. According to a statement from OPPO Kenya, only 500 units of the device are available for purchase in the country.
The device is pretty much the standard OPPO F5 but with more storage (64 GB vis-a-vis 32 GB) and memory (6 GB against 4 GB).
OPPO Kenya notes in the press release announcing the device’s availability in the Kenyan market that there’s also a difference in the processor used even though we can’t ascertain that because as far as we know, there shouldn’t be a change in the MediaTek Helio P23 chipset that can be found under the standard variant’s hood.
Other features like the Full HD+ display, gorgeous near-bezel-less display, an Artificial Intelligence system lurking in the shadows, improved facial recognition, weird iPhone copycat software and impressive cameras, still remain.

Having interacted with the standard F5, it is not hard to see why the new model is enticing. With the kind of quality snaps one is able to take using the F5’s camera, the 32 GB onboard storage (only 22 GB is available for the user to install apps, store music, photos, videos and other content) fills up sooner. The extra memory should help with the multitasking even though I’ve personally not had any issues with the standard model F5’s performance. Watch out for a review of the device here soon.
The device is available exclusively via Jumia Kenya where it retails for Kshs 39,990, a much higher figure from the Kshs 31,990 asking price of the standard model and the Kshs 26,990 marked price of the “lite” model christened F5 Youth.
