One of Samsung’s latest additions to its mid-range Galaxy A smartphone lineup, the Galaxy A7, is now available for purchase in the country like we had anticipated last week.

According to a statement from Samsung Electronics East Africa, the device, is retailing for Kshs 40,000, a far cry from other mid-range options we have seen in the market like the ones from Chinese device maker Oppo and Finnish brand HMD Global.

The Galaxy A7 stood out when it launched last month for two things: its side-mounted fingerprint sensor, something that we saw in Sony smartphones for quite some time and which can also be found on the Samsung Galaxy J6+, and the triple camera setup at the back of the device.

The tri-lens setup is the first of its kind on a Samsung smartphone even though the A7’s shine has been stolen over the last few days by the Galaxy A9 2018 which is expected to start selling in the country next month.

Among the three, there’s a 24-megapixel primary lens with f/1.7 aperture, an 8-megapixel companion with a f/2.4 aperture for ultra-wide-angle shots and a 5-megapixel sensor with a f/2.2 aperture for capturing the depth.

Other notable features of the device include Dolby Atmos for the sound output via headphones and Bluetooth, some of the camera features that can be found on Samsung’s more premium offerings in the market like Selfie Focus, Pro Lighting Mode, AR Emoji, filters and more.

Like the Galaxy Note 9, it also lets users expand storage using 512GB microSD cards to top up the 128GB onboard storage it maxes out at.
