The Galaxy A14, one of several Galaxy A series smartphones that we were expecting to see launched in the country this month, is officially available in the country.
According to Samsung, the device went on sale at the start of the month, alongside the Galaxy A34 and Galaxy A54 which we have previously covered.
The Samsung Galaxy A14 features a 6.6-inch Full HD+ LCD panel, a Helio G80 chipset from MediaTek for the 4G model and a Dimensity 700 chipset from the same maker for the 5G model (there’s also an Exynos 1330 in some markets), a choice of either 4 or 6GB RAM as well as a choice of 64G or 128GB onboard storage (expandable up to a terabyte via a microSD card), a 50-megapixel main image sensor at the back that is flanked by a 5-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 2-megapixel macro lens, a 13-megapixel camera on the front, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a 5,000mAh battery.
The device has a 3.5mm headphone jack as well as a USB Type-C port for charging (up to 15W) and data transfer.
The Galaxy A14 runs on Android 13 with One UI 5 layered on top. According to Samsung, the device is getting at least 2 major operating system upgrades meaning that it will live to see Android 14. Security updates, though not provided monthly, are promised as well.
Though Samsung didn’t reveal the device’s pricing in its statement to the press, a quick check at various online stores shows the device’s pricing starting at Kshs 22,000 for the base model (4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage). Kshs 27,000 gets one the 128GB model.
