The Xiaomi Pocophone F1 was scheduled to launch in Kenya in early November, but this never materialized. In fact, Xiaomi Kenya never revealed why the launch didn’t go as planned.
And out of nowhere, earlier this month, the Chinese smartphone vendor started teasing the availability of the phone in the country once again, this time hinting at “a few days” release date, but later revealed that the Poco F1, as it is often called in India, will start selling locally on December 18th.
Whether this will materialize can only be confirmed this coming week, but for now, what we can assure you is that an update to Android 9 Pie will be readily available once the phone goes official in the country.
Following weeks of beta testing in India and Europe, the Pocophone F1 started receiving a stable update to MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie earlier this week. Since all global (non-Chinese) Xiaomi phones have the same version of MIUI, the OTA update to Pie shouldn’t take long to arrive on your Poco F1 once you have the phone.
In case it doesn’t arrive on time, you can always grab the MIUI 10 recovery ROM via the link below and do a manual installation, but be sure you know how this works before going down this road.
