Following the launch of the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro, stories started doing rounds suggesting that Xiaomi may be about to give up on the still new POCO brand. However, recent developments tend to suggest otherwise, that in fact, a new Pocophone F2 is in the works.

Not long ago, reports surfaced online claiming the Pocophone F2 will come with an AMOLED display screen. The Pocophone F1 has an LCD panel, but given the increasing number of Xiaomi phones that come with AMOLED panel, it makes sense that the Poco F2 will be switching to an AMOLED panel as well.

All right, darlings. I have news for you. The Poco F2 exists. And it has an AMOLED display. More than that I cannot say at the moment.

Today, we an alleged screen protector of the phone has popped up online showing off the expected design of the panel. From the image, we are looking at an Infinity-U design with a tiny bezel at the bottom end.

Despite proof that Pocophone F2 is in the works, Xiaomi India head of marketing Anuj Sharma recently revealed in an interview with 91mobiles that it may take some time before the F2 arrives since the company’s small size means the focus is still on the Poco F1.

“POCO was made to remain independent. POCO uses Xiaomi’s services like logistics, support, etc. POCO has its own product strategy. Right now POCO is too small & their focus is still on POCO F1” Sharma said during the interview.

If anything, this statement alone implies the Pocophone F2 release isn’t close. On the contrary, we’ve already seen the device pop up in benchmarks powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, 4GB RAM, and Android Q, which are some of the specs expected on the F2 when it arrives.

The Pocophone F1 launched in August 2018, so it makes sense that stories of its successor are now gaining momentum.
