Vivo is set to unveil the vivo V21 in Kenya before this month ends.

The device, which was announced nearly two months, is centred around providing the best self portrait experience possible on a device of its class.

It has a 44-megapixel selfie shooter with both OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and EIS (Electronic Imaging Stabilization) “to accurately detect movements and shaking and calibrate the camera accordingly to eliminate motion blurs and produce high-definition selfies as a result.” It can also shoot front-facing videos at 4K and includes other features like a dual-view mode and slow motion.

It is worth noting, however, that there is no OIS when shooting videos at the highest resolution available (4K) on the vivo V21.

Much as the front-facing camera has been positioned as the hero feature of the device, the back cameras is no slouch, either. There is a 64-megapixel main sensor with both OIS and EIS, just like the selfie camera, backed by an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera and a 2-megapixel macro lens “for close and personal shots”. The main sensor uses AI smarts “to intuitively focus on faces, balance highlights, and shadows for the best photo in low-light conditions”, according to vivo.

Other features of the device include a 6.4-inch Full HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ certification, a MediaTek Dimensity 720 chipset (this marks the first time that a major device brand is using it locally, if we are not wrong), 8GB RAM, 128GB onboard storage, an in-display fingerprint sensor, a 4,000mAh battery and an included 33W fast-charging adaptor.
