“Mi” branding is prominent in all products and merchandise from Xiaomi.
Over time, for many, that has become its identity around the world over the last decade that it has been producing smartphones and other products and marketing and selling them around the world.
Soon, all of that is going to change.
In an interesting turn of events, XDA Developers reports that the Chinese device maker, ranked the first when it comes to smartphone shipments made in June 2021 around the world, will be dropping the Mi naming and branding from its products.
Unnoticed by many, Xiaomi already dropped the “Mi” branding from its latest “all-screen” smartphone, the Mix 4. The device is known simply as the Xiaomi Mix 4. Its predecessor went by the name Xiaomi Mi Mix 3.
While we do not have official reasons why the change was necessary, we can only speculate that with its increasing global dominance, especially in the smartphone industry, Xiaomi would want users around the world to directly link itself with the devices they use.
