vivo has officially made available one of its latest devices, the Y21 smartphone, in the Kenyan market.
The device is the latest Y-series smartphone from the Chinese brand.
The Y series is vivo’s budget smartphone lineup and we have seen the brand release several devices from the lineup over the past year the latest being a few months ago when the Y53s, which is on the upper side of the Y-series spectrum, became available.
Specifications and features of the vivo Y21 include a 6.5-inch HD+ display, a MediaTek Helio P35 chipset, 4GB memory and a choice of either 64 or 128 gigabytes of onboard storage. There is a pair of 13 and 2-megapixel snappers at the back and an 8-megapixel camera on the front for selfies.
The device arrives running Android 11 hidden under the cover of vivo’s Android overlay, Funtouch OS.
As is usually the case with vivo smartphones, users of the device can expect the brand’s proprietary fast charging technology, which is shared across the BBK Electronics brands, to also make an appearance. Given that this is an entry-level device, there is just 18W fast charging. According to vivo, a half hour juice up should see the device go from 0% to 34%.
The vivo Y21 is going for Kshs 17,000.
As per promotional text messages we have received from the company, there is a ‘buy one get one free’ offer going on online (on Jumia Kenya) so you might want to check that out before it is too late.
