itel Kenya has today unveiled Kenyan rapper, King Kaka, as its official brand ambassador at an elaborate event held in Nairobi and streamed live on the brand’s social media pages.
The consumer electronics brand well known for its affordable mobile phones and other devices, says that its choice of the rapper as its ambassador, “Is informed by the brand’s desire to enhance consumer engagement and endear more fans to her community.”
“itel Kenya’s choice of King Kaka as the face of the brand brings to bear connecting similarities between their target audience and acceptance, with both brands serving mass markets,” the brand says in a statement.
“itel Kenya is a leader in the smartphone mass market in Kenya and Africa at large for phones below Ksh 10,000 offering reliable and affordable smartphones for everyone, while King Kaka makes popular music for the streets, rolling out hits they can relate with. ”
“We are excited to work with King Kaka and have him as our brand ambassador, he actually mirrors the integrity and innovation that we steadfastly follow at itel,” Peter Xiao, itel’s Brand Manager is quoted saying in the same statement.
itel’s unveiling of a brand ambassador follows that of sister brands Tecno and Infinix who have also had similar approaches to their product marketing in the country. Infinix has enlisted the services of popular Kenyan Afro-pop band Sauti Sol while Tecno has had Chris Evans as a global ambassador for nearly a year now.
