vivo has launched one of its newest devices, the vivo Y22, in Kenya.
The Y series is the brand’s popular middle-of-the-road offering that targets Kenyans who may not be in the market for its more pricey offerings in the upper V series.
“The Y22 is the latest camera phone that combines a modern design and a beautiful aesthetic to provide consumers with a thrilling experience,” a statement from the brand says.
“The Y22 comes in exciting new colours such as Metaverse Green and Starlit Blue. The Metaverse Green is a distinct and unique new colour which has diamond patterns and a distinctive metallic sheen to make the device stand out from the rest. The phone has a 2.5D curvature body with a new CMF (Color, Materials & Finish) design, while the back has an anti-fingerprint matte material.”
The vivo Y22 packs 6.55-inch HD+ display, a Helio G85 chipset from MediaTek, 4GB RAM (can be extended), 64GB onboard storage and a 5,000mAh battery (with 18W fast charging).
On the optical front, it has a hero 50-megapixel camera at the back that us flanked by a 2-megapixel sensor for the dual rear camera setup. On the front is an 8-megapixel snapper.
“The 50MP main rear camera features full HD resolution and professional-grade light intake that brings richer details for night views and allows users to capture beautiful moments,” says vivo Kenya.
The device runs on Funtouch OS 12 which is based on Android 12. Funtouch OS 13, based on the latest version of Android, was just unveiled the other day.
It has an IPX4 water resistance rating and an IP5x dust-protection rating.
The device is priced at Kshs 20,000.
