Samsung Galaxy S23 series set for February 1st unveiling

It is that time of the year!

Samsung is set to unveil its 2024 flagship smartphone series, expected to be named the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, on February 1st.

The company has sent public invites for the event which will be held in-person in San Francisco on the said date but, as has become the tradition, beamed live online to millions around the world. The event will start at 9 pm East African time.

In recent months, much of the attention towards Samsung with regard to smartphones has been directed at its foldable lineup which it refreshed and availed around the world in the final quarter of the year. While the Korean company’s focus is expected to increasingly gravitate towards foldables, it is not forgetting where it all started: the hallowed Galaxy S series.

The Galaxy S series, currently in its twelfth generation, has seen major and incremental upgrades to the technology on offer not just from Samsung but across the mobile tech industry in general. Last year, it officially took the place of its sibling, the Galaxy Note series, which was once its blown-up version with a stylus. However, the shift to foldables has seen its position as Samsung’s darling threatened. Word in the grapevine is that we may even see a very slimmed-down lineup this year devoid of the “Plus” model that we have been seeing for the last half-decade.
