HMD Global is keeping up with its trend of unveiling a new Nokia device in the local market every week since the month started. This time round, the Finnish company that looks after the famous Finnish brand Nokia is introducing yet another tablet, the Nokia T21, to the Kenyan market.

The T21 follows the T10 which launched at the start of the month, going for Kshs 20,000.

The Nokia T21 tablet is going for Kshs 32,500. HMD Global is offering the 128GB variant locally.

It features an aluminium body with a (recycled) plastic cover for the antenna and optimal connectivity.

It has a 10.36-inch 2K display in a 5:3 aspect ratio and with pen support, a Unisoc Tiger T612 made out of a 12nm process, 4GB RAM, 64 or 128GB onboard storage (expandable via a microSD card up to 512GB), an 8,200mAh battery that supports 18W fast-charging. HMD Global says that the battery can get one up to 15 hours of web browsing and 7 hours of conference calls.

It is worth noting that while there is the aforementioned fast charging, one will need to find a compatible wall adaptor to take advantage of it. Only a USB cable is included in the box. The reason given for this is: “It’s part of our effort to reduce e-waste.” HMD Global says that they will happily sell you an adaptor and donate what you have paid to “environmental causes”.

With a SIM in place or using VoIP alternatives, the tablet can be used to make calls.

An 8-megapixel camera adorns its back as does another on the front.

Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, 2.4 and 5GHz Wi-Fi (ac band supported), USB Type-C and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

It runs on Android 12 and HMD Globl says that it is supporting it through two operating system upgrades and 3 years of security updates. It comes ready-made for Android Enterprise Recommended which means it can dabble both as a home device as well as a business one if the need arises.

Like the T10, it is also Netflix-ready thanks to its Widevine L1 certification. It also borrows the same Google Kids Space and Google Entertainment Space add-ons that can be found on its smaller sibling.

There is OZO Playback Audio, as well.

Buyers of the tablet also get a free Nokia Essential wireless headphone valued at between Kshs 7,000 and Kshs 8,500 – while stocks last.
