Samsung continues its security-focused updates for 2024, addressing crucial vulnerabilities across its mid-range Galaxy lineup. The Galaxy A55, Samsung’s premium mid-range phone of the year, received the October 2024 security update starting October 11 in Asian countries. This patch, carrying firmware A556EXXS5AXI4, fixes more than two dozen Android vulnerabilities, including 12 specific to Galaxy devices. Exynos-powered devices benefit from additional security improvements, particularly targeting wearables.

On the other hand, the Galaxy A35 is receiving a much-delayed September 2024 security patch, rolling out first in Europe as version A356BXXS3AXI3. While disappointing for those expecting the latest patch, the September update addresses important vulnerabilities, ensuring better device protection. However, it brings no new features or performance upgrades.

The A35 patch is now available in Austria, Croatia, France, and more, with further global expansion expected soon. The A35 receives quarterly updates, so Samsung’s next update will likely bring the December patch.

Both the A55 and A35 recently benefited from Samsung’s Circle to Search feature update, and they are anticipated to receive the highly awaited Android 15-based One UI 7.0 update in 2025.

For now, users of both devices can download the latest updates by navigating to Settings > Software update and tapping Download and install. If the download notification doesn’t pop up, don’t fret. It’s just a matter of time before it does.
