We are down to the last 4 of the ongoing FIFA World Cup. Argentina, England, France and Spain have weathered all manner of storms to make it to the World Cup semi-finals. Want a smartphone that will last just as long as they lasted in this tournament? vivo might have an answer for you.
The vivo Y500, what the company describes as having “the biggest battery ever introduced on a vivo smartphone”, is up for pre-order in Kenya starting today, 13th July 2026.
“The Y500 also features a 1.5K AMOLED Display, delivering bright colors, sharp details and a smooth viewing experience whether you are watching videos, browsing social media or using your phone outdoors. But the Y500 isn’t only about lasting longer. vivo believes one of the biggest changes in the way people use smartphones today isn’t just how much time they spend on them, it’s how much of their lives they store on them,” vivo says in a media statement.
“The Y500 is also built to handle everyday challenges with IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance, giving users extra confidence wherever the day takes them,” the statement continues.
vivo is promising buyers of the Y500 smartphone a “new privacy experience designed to give users
greater control over what stays personal”.
The vivo Y500 joins a growing number of smartphones, especially in the entry-level and midrange market segments, that offer big batteries with a goal of allowing their users to enjoy longer usage periods.
“From 13 July, customers can reserve the vivo Y500 through the official pre-order platform and enjoy guaranteed rewards, exclusive pre-order offers and additional opportunities to unlock exciting football-themed prizes as the tournament progresses.”
