As expected, smartphone brand vivo has taken the wraps off one of its latest smartphones, the vivo V21, in Kenya today.

The device had been available for pre-order in the days leading to today’s unveiling.

The vivo V21 smartphone packs a 6.4-inch Full HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ certification, a MediaTek Dimensity 720 chipset, 8GB RAM, 128GB onboard storage, an in-display fingerprint sensor, a 4,000mAh battery and an included 33W fast-charging adaptor.

Its hero feature is its 4 cameras (3 at the back and 1 on the front) with both the front-facing and the main back sensors featuring Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and Electronic Imaging Stabilization (EIS). The front-facing camera is a 44-megapixel sensor while the back tri-camera set up comprises a 64-megapixel main sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle sensor and a 2-megapixel macro lens.

“This 44MP OIS front camera combines features including AI Night Portrait, Super Night Mode, advanced autofocus, and stable 4K video, to equip users with best-in-class tools for the ultimate modern mobile lifestyle,” says a statement from the company.

“Embedded in the smartphones are other creative features such as a dual-view option that records videos from both sides of the smartphone, advanced AIto augment facial features, and a Double Exposure Function to let users’ creativity shine through.”

The vivo V21 is going for Kshs 42,000. The pricing makes it one of the direct competitors of the Oppo Reno5 we reviewed a few months ago.

It is available in two colours: Sunset Dazzle and Dusk Blue.
