As expected, Chinese smartphone brand vivo officially launched its latest smartphone, the vivo V25 5G, in Kenya yesterday.
“The new V25 5G follows the V series’ heritage of capturing exquisite moments with its superior camera capabilities and cutting-edge imaging technology. The flagship-level 64MP OIS ultra-sensing camera on the back minimizes blurry shots and supports a longer exposure time, creating clearer and brighter images and videos even in dim lighting conditions,” a statement from vivo reads.
The vivo V25 5G comes with the colour-changing back that we saw on the gold-coloured version of its predecessor, the vivo V23 5G.
“The Color Changing Fluorite AG Glass covering the rear panel changes its hue when exposed to UV light, reflecting the dynamic personalities of users,” the same statement from vivo adds.
“The Aquamarine Blue edition of V25 5G switches from ocean blue to bluish green.”
Other colour options are Sunrise Gold and Diamond Black.
Other features of the device include the Hybrid Image Stabilization (a mix of optical image stabilization (OIS) and electronic image stabilization (EIS)) on the hero 64-megapixel sensor at the back which “makes video shooting clearer and more stable”, a new “Vlog Movie” feature, an “upgraded Multi-Style Portrait feature in the front camera that provides fun filters, enhancing the video experience”.
The main sensor is backed by an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera and a 2-megapixel macro lens. On the front is a 50-megapixel sensor equipped with an “AI HD Algorithm” to optimize for image sharpness, according to vivo.
The device features a 6.4-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display.
Other specifications include a MediaTek Dimensity 900 chipset, 8GB RAM (expandable virtually on-demand by a further 8 gigabytes) and a 4,500mAh battery that is juiced up in no time (a 30-minute plug-in takes the device from 0 to 61%) thanks to 44W fast charging.
The vivo V25 5G is one of two devices in the V25 series that vivo is making available in the Kenyan market. The other one is the vivo V25e whose pricing information we don’t have at this time but, if the past is anything to go by, should go for a little less than the V25 5G is going for.
UPDATE
The vivo V25e is going for Kshs 35,000 and comes in a 128GB storage configuration.
