First launched for its home market in China back in November of last year, then made its way to India at the start of the year, Redmi has finally decided to fully release the Redmi Note 12 series to the global market on March 23.
As is usually the case with the Note series from Redmi, there are already a plethora of different variants around, and they will only increase before the year ends. For starters, the Redmi Note 12 released in China is slightly different from the one released in India, however, the Redmi Note 12 Pro and Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus had no differences in the two markets.
Furthermore, there is also a Redmi Note 12 Pro Discovery Edition that is an exclusive variant for the Chinese market. This variant shares the majority of features with the Note 12 Pro Plus, however, it features a smaller battery but with superfast charging at 210W capable of charging the device from 0% to full charge in just 9 minutes. Not to be left behind, is the Redmi Note 12S, which has just been certified with the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) in the US and should also make its way to the international market.
Xiaomi has not explicitly stated which regions will have the launch on the 23rd of this month, but given that the announcement was made on their global Twitter account in English, it stands to reason it will be a worldwide event.
“Brace yourselves for the #RedmiNote12Series! This launch is going to be so out-of-this-world amazing, you’ll need a space shuttle just to catch up! Join our live updates on March 23rd at 23:00 (GMT+8) and see what we’re talking about! #LiveVivid,” Xiaomi said on Twitter.
While the company has not made any remarks regarding the pricing, taking a look at the base model in India, the Redmi Note 12 has a starting price of Rs 17,999 (around Kshs 28,000) with the top of the line Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus starting at Rs 29,999 (around Kshs 47,000). Note, however, that this is just an estimate and prices in Kenya might slightly be different, especially taking into consideration that the value of the Kenyan Shilling has been dropping with each passing day.
