For years, it has been possible to install apps to devices on one’s Google account from the Play Store remotely. What if one wants to do the reverse? That is, uninstall apps from a device on one’s Google account remotely?
That hasn’t been possible in the past but, going forward the situation won’t be the same again.
A new version of the Play Store (38.8) that has been rolling out over the past week has added the ability for users to uninstall apps on devices that are signed in to their Google accounts remotely.
What’s even better is that this is not limited to just smartphones and/or PCs but, rather, all Android devices and platforms: cars, televisions, wearables…
The change comes with a UI change that allows users to group Play Store apps by various categories to make it easier to single them out for uninstallation. For instance, one can just sort apps by a specific device, say a TV and proceed to make the changes they want made, something that should be useful when dealing with Wear OS (wearables), Android TV and Android Auto, where one may be limited by the access and displays of the devices in use and prefer the extra real estate, keyboard and advanced capabilities of their smartphone or PC.
