If that’s you, well, here’s how to upgrade your free account to take advantage of the various perks that come with premium membership.

First, make sure you have the latest version of the YouTube app from the Play Store. Next, tap on “You” in the bottom-right corner to open your profile with a menu. From the several options you see, tap on “Get YouTube Premium.”

YouTube is offering a free 1-month trial before you start getting billed Kshs 499, Kshs 949 or Kshs 289 a month for the individual, family or student plan respectively.
If you feel like unsubscribing at any time, follow the same steps to do so. Do keep in mind that when you sign up for YouTube Premium, you’ll also get premium access to YouTube Music. But what if you only want the standalone YouTube Music Premium? Well, you can also get it, and here’s how.
How to sign up for YouTube Music Premium
It’s an easy process to sign up for YouTube Music Premium, basically the same as YouTube Premium. But first, you must download the app from the Google Play Store. Once installed, you can either tap on the avatar in the top right corner and then “Get Music Premium” at the bottom of the screen. Or simply tap on “Upgrade” in the bottom right corner of the YouTube Music home page. Either method will take you to a landing page with a big “Get Music Premium” button. Proceed by selecting the plan you want between the three Individual, Family and Student plans.
Where the Individual plan costs Kshs 419 a month, the Family and Student plans will set you back Kshs 669 and Kshs 209 a month, respectively. Once you pick your preferred plan, tap on “Confirm” in the bottom right corner and complete the process by hitting “Subscribe.” Again, if you don’t have an existing payment method, you’ll have to enter your credit card information for this process to complete. Similar to YouTube Premium, you also get a free 1-month trial window before you get billed.
