Infinix has unveiled its latest mid-range models, the Infinix Note 40, Note 40 Pro (with 4G and 5G options), and Note 40 Pro+, at Sepang International Circuit in Selangor, Malaysia. Building on their Note 30 series’ All-Round FastCharge solution, the company boasts significant upgrades in charging technology.
Infinix’s All-Round FastCharge 2.0 technology now includes 100W Multi-Speed FastCharge (which can power your phone to 50% in just 8 minutes on hyper mode) and MagCharge. The standout feature, however, is the company’s first in-house Cheetah X1 chip, which Infinix claims surpasses traditional chips by a remarkable 204%. This smaller chip translates to less internal travel for electrical data, resulting in reduced heat and overall improved performance.
The Cheetah X1 chip incorporates three modules for versatile functionality. One module supports various charging scenarios, handling functions like Multi-Speed FastCharge, Bypass Charging Mode, Reverse Charge Mode, and multi-protocol fast charge. Infinix says the high-precision power detection feature constantly monitors and adjusts power flow to prevent overheating, keeping your phone cool. Additionally, the safety protection feature offers 63 protection schemes for comprehensive charging safety.
Wireless charging also received a boost, going from 15W to 20W Wireless Magcharge. Infinix announced the Infinix MagKit to streamline your magnetic charging experience, including the MagCase, MagPad charging pad, and MagPower power bank. Impressively, the Note 40 series can charge even in extreme temperatures as low as -20 °C. Plus, Bypass Charging 2.0 filters current for cooler operation during heavy gaming or streaming sessions. You can also use your phone to charge other devices, wired or wirelessly, at up to 10W speeds. And with PD3.0 protocol support, it’s possible to use your phone’s charger to power your PC.
Besides the Cheetah X1 chip, the Note 40 Pro and 40 Pro+ include MediaTek’s Dimensity 7020 processor, while the standard variant relies on the Helio G99 Ultimate processor. The Pro Plus maxes out at 24GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, whereas the standard and Pro models peak at 16GB of RAM. Other features align with popular budget phones: a 6.78-inch Full HD+ AMOLED screen, enhanced by Gorilla Glass G55 protection for all models. The Note 40 Pro Plus sports a 4600mAh battery, and the other variants pack a 5000mAh battery.
The Note 40 series introduces the Active Halo feature, adding a unique visual flair around the camera module. This AI-driven light show changes based on usage scenarios such as calls, notifications, games, music, charging, and interactions with the Folax voice assistant. Optically, the phones sport a powerful 108MP camera with 3x Superzoom and sleek in-sensor zoom tech. The Pro series gets OIS for steadier shots and a 32MP front camera rounds out the imaging package.
Following the official unveiling in Malaysia, the Infinix Note 40 series will launch globally on March 19th in stylish colors, namely Vintage Green, Obsidian Black, and Titan Gold. A special BMW DesignWorks Racing Edition is planned for later in the year. Pricing is competitive, with the Note 40 starting at $199 followed by $259 for the Note 40 Pro 4G, $289 for the Note 40 Pro 5G, and top out at $309 for the Note 40 Pro+ 5G. The phones ship with Android 14-based Infinix XOS 14 software, with the Pro models guaranteed two years of OS upgrades.
We will have to wait for the global launch to know the price and availability of the Infinix Note 40 series in Kenya.
