On the sidelines of MWC 2024 back in late February in Barcelona, Spain, when we were enamoured with Tecno’s rollable smartphone, Oppo’s AR glasses that now are infused with AI “magic” and yet another Tecno smartphone, something else was happening: Kenya was announced as the host of the 2024 Transform Africa Summit.
The Summit, which takes place annually, is being held in the country for the first time this August. From 28th to 30th August, to be specific, at the KICC.
The Transform Africa Summit is a “continental forum uniting global and regional ICT leaders from government, business and international organisations”. It brings together over 5,000 delegates from Africa and around the world “to shape the future of Africa’s digital transformation” and is being organized by Kenya’s telecommunications industry regulator, the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) hand in hand with the Pan-African agency for ICTs, Smart Africa Alliance.
The theme for this year’s Summit is ‘Powering Africa’s Digital Prosperity: Beyond Borders, Beyond Limits’.
The last six editions of the Summit, which have taken place in other countries, have seen over 19,000 delegates from over 120 countries gather to explore ways to collaborate on new ways of shaping, accelerating and sustaining Africa’s ongoing digital revolution.
The last edition was held in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
